Wedding Officiant Packages
You read that correctly. Not only am I a licensed wedding officiant in the state of Ohio, I also have the privilege of helping couples begin their marriages in the very same spaces where their celebrations later unfold. There is something deeply meaningful about standing beside two people during one of the most emotionally important moments of their lives and helping guide them into the next chapter together. Long before the dance floor fills and the celebration takes over the room, there is first a quiet moment where two people look at one another and promise forever. I never take that responsibility lightly.
For those who know me well, this probably comes as no surprise. I am a romantic, and I love love. I always have. From my fortunate vantage point

I have been blessed with 26 years of love, joy, and laughter in my own marriage. As your officiant, I wish you the same.
standing between two people promising their lives to one another, I get to witness some of the mostsincere and emotionally vulnerable moments human beings are capable of sharing. The adoring eyes of a groom watching his bride walk down the aisle. The trembling bouquet in a bride’s hands as she fights back tears while listening to vows written just for her. The quiet nervous laughter before a ring exchange. The way two people instinctively reach for each other’s hands without even realizing they are doing it. The sudden silence that falls over a room the moment two people become fully present with one another. The visible relief in a couple’s faces when they realize the ceremony no longer feels like a performance, but simply an honest reflection of who they are together. These moments matter to me deeply.
And honestly, I think wedding ceremonies deserve more care than they are often given. Too many ceremonies feel rushed, emotionally distant, interchangeable, or disconnected from the people standing at the center of them. Couples spend months — sometimes years — planning one of the most important days of their lives, only for the ceremony itself to become little more than an obligation standing between guests and cocktails. I never want that to happen. The ceremony should not feel like the thing everyone is simply trying to “get through” before the reception begins. It should feel like the emotional foundation upon which the rest of the celebration is built.
A wedding ceremony should feel personal. Human. Emotional. Comfortable. It should sound like the couple getting married and reflect the relationship they have actually built together. Some ceremonies are romantic and deeply emotional. Others are playful, whimsical, philosophical, symbolic, literary, artistic, quietly reflective, or centered around deeply personal beliefs about love, partnership, and human connection. Most are a little bit of several things at once because love itself is complicated and beautifully unique from one relationship to the next. Some couples want tears. Others want laughter. Most want both. The best ceremonies feel less like scripted performances and more like honest conversations shared in front of the people who matter most.
That is why I approach officiating as both a storyteller and a collaborator. When couples choose my Romance Package, we begin with an introductory video call where I spend time getting to know both of them together and individually. I want to understand not only how they met, but who they are with one another. I want to hear the stories they still laugh about years later. I want to understand the small details, the shared memories, the personality differences, the emotional moments, the traditions, the private jokes, and the experiences that shaped the relationship they are building together. I want to know what first drew them toward one another and what still keeps them close long after the excitement of a first date faded into everyday life. Sometimes the smallest stories become the most emotionally revealing ones — the quiet acts of support, the difficult seasons survived together, the habits and imperfections they have learned to love anyway.
From there, we begin crafting a ceremony that feels uniquely theirs. Using questionnaires, conversations, revisions, readings, rituals, cultural traditions, personal memories, and collaborative planning, we shape a ceremony designed around their individual relationship rather than forcing them into a generic template. As a writer and retired English teacher, storytelling has always been part of who I am, and few things are more meaningful to me than helping couples tell the story of their love in a way that feels sincere, emotionally honest, and entirely their own. I spend an enormous amount of time thinking about tone, pacing, emotional rhythm, and the flow of language because ceremonies should sound natural when spoken aloud, not stiff or overly formal. The goal is never simply to impress guests with beautiful words. The goal is to make couples feel seen within them.
But ceremonies should not feel emotionally heavy from beginning to end either. I love balancing heartfelt moments with warmth, personality, humor, tenderness, and the small human moments that make ceremonies feel alive rather than scripted. A wedding ceremony should breathe. It should feel natural. Guests should laugh, cry, smile, reflect, and most importantly, recognize the couple standing in front of them within the words being spoken. Some of my favorite moments happen when an entire room breaks into laughter before immediately falling back into complete emotional silence a few moments later. That emotional movement — the balance between joy, vulnerability, sincerity, and humanity — is what makes ceremonies memorable.
As an officiant, I also understand that weddings can feel overwhelming no matter how excited or prepared a couple may be. Part of my role is simply being a calming presence in the middle of a very emotional day. I remind grooms not to lock their knees. I remind brides to breathe. I quietly reassure nervous couples moments before the ceremony begins. And if something small goes wrong — a forgotten line, a mistimed entrance, a nervous stumble, a ring that momentarily refuses to cooperate — I help carry the moment forward calmly and naturally because that is what experience allows you to do. Weddings are live events filled with real human beings and real emotions, and perfection is never what people actually remember most anyway. They remember how the ceremony felt while it was happening.
At the end of the day, though, what matters most to me is simple: I genuinely care about the people standing in front of me. I care about their story. I care about their relationship. I care about helping them create a ceremony that feels emotionally true to who they are and what they mean to one another. There are very few things I find more rewarding than helping two people begin the next chapter of their lives together. Long after the music fades and the reception ends, the ceremony remains the moment that officially changed everything for them. I would be honored to help tell your story, too.
Before the Ceremony
Of course, beyond the emotional and personal side of a wedding ceremony, there are also a few practical and legal details couples need to navigate before the big day arrives. Fortunately, obtaining a marriage license in Ohio is usually a very simple process, and I am always happy to help answer questions along the way whenever I can.
If you are an Ohio resident, you must apply for your marriage license in the county where either applicant resides. If both applicants live in different Ohio counties, either county may be used. Couples traveling from out of state must apply for their license in the Ohio county where the ceremony will take place.
Since I reside in Stark County, many of my couples obtain their marriage licenses through the Stark County Probate Court Marriage License Department, located at:
Stark County Probate Court
110 Central Plaza South
Suite 501 – 5th Floor
Canton, Ohio 44702-1413
Phone (330) 451 - 7755
Hours

8:30 AM – 4:15 PM
For all other counties, confirm the correct county with your venue.
No blood test or waiting period is necessary to obtain a marriage license in Ohio.
The current fee for a Marriage License is approximately $50.00.

LGBTQIA+ Friendly
Over the years, I’ve had a front-row seat to hundreds of love stories. I’ve watched couples laugh through nervous vows, pause mid-sentence as emotion suddenly caught up with them, instinctively reach for each other’s hands when the moment became overwhelming, and look at one another with the kind of vulnerability people rarely allow the world to see. Some ceremonies are quiet and tender. Others are loud, joyful, emotional, and overflowing with energy. But at every wedding there comes a moment—in the middle of all the formalities and celebration and noise—where everything else seems to disappear except the two people standing in front of one another.
And what has always fascinated me most is how deeply universal those moments become no matter how different the couples themselves may be. Different backgrounds. Different families. Different paths that brought people together. Different traditions. Different journeys through life. Different struggles, different victories, different stories that somehow led two people to the same place at the same time. I have always found that beautiful.
But underneath all of these differences, the truth is always the same—when two people find something real in each other, when they choose each other and build a life together, that matters. In a world that can often feel exhausting, divided, uncertain, and heavy, love still matters. Human connection still matters. Finding the person who makes you feel safe, understood, accepted, and fully yourself matters.
Love doesn’t need qualifiers. Love is love. It really is that simple. It does not become more valid because other people approve of it, understand it, or see themselves reflected within it. Real love deserves dignity, respect, protection, and celebration simply because it exists.
And yet, right now, that simple truth is being challenged again. Rights that were fought for—and won—are being questioned, rolled back, and put in danger. That shouldn’t be happening. Not now. Not ever. It is shameful, and it is inexcusable. No couple should ever be made to feel afraid of expressing love openly, celebrating their relationship publicly, or building a future together with the same freedoms and protections afforded to everyone else.
So let me be clear about where I stand.
I am an ally. Not quietly. Not conditionally. Not only when it is convenient or socially comfortable. I believe LGBTQIA+ couples deserve the same joy, dignity, legal protections, emotional safety, and public celebration as anyone else standing at the altar promising forever to another human being.
If two people are in love, they deserve to celebrate that love fully—without hesitation, without judgment, and without ever having to wonder if the person standing beside them supports it. Weddings should feel safe. They should feel affirming. They should feel like spaces where couples can fully exhale and simply be themselves surrounded by the people who love them most.
I do.
And yes — I will happily marry you.
If I’m standing with you on your wedding day, you have my full support—start to finish. I will honor your ceremony. I will protect your vision. And when it’s time to celebrate, I will make sure that dance floor feels exactly like it should: yours. Not tolerated. Not quietly accepted. Yours in every sense of the word. Welcoming. Joyful. Safe. Completely yours. The way every wedding should feel for every couple walking into the room hand in hand.
There is no room for bigotry at a wedding. No room for hate. No room for anyone who believes your love is anything less than worthy. Weddings are celebrations of human connection, commitment, vulnerability, hope, and partnership. Hate has no place in moments built around those things. Only love. Only respect. Only celebration. Only the people who want to stand beside you and celebrate your happiness wholeheartedly and without reservation.
I proudly support and celebrate LGBTQIA+ couples—on the mic, at the altar, on the dance floor, and in every moment in between, and if you’ve found your person, you deserve your happily ever after. You deserve to stand at the center of your wedding day feeling fully seen, fully celebrated, and completely surrounded by joy.
Always.
No exceptions.
Finding the Right Ceremony
Every couple’s story is different, and the way couples choose to enter marriage together is deeply personal as well.
Some couples dream of a deeply personalized ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Others want something private, quiet, simple, and intimate. Some have already built entire lives together and simply want to make things official without unnecessary stress or expense. Others want a ceremony carefully crafted around their unique story, personalities, memories, and relationship.
Because every couple’s needs, comfort levels, vision, and journey are different, I offer three officiating packages designed to meet couples wherever they are in life and love.
Signing Package
$100.00
The Signing Package is designed for couples who want to make their marriage legal in a prompt, private, and practical way. It is the perfect package for couples who have already committed to and lived with one another for many years, as well as those who have already started a family together. This package keeps the focus on the commitment itself without unnecessary pressure, planning, or expense.
The exchange of rings is not necessary, witnesses are not required, and you do not have to leave your vehicle.
How It Works:

The moment it becomes official — the quiet signature that turns two lives into one shared future.
Elopement Package
$300.00
The Elopement Package is designed for couples who want something intimate, meaningful, and beautifully uncomplicated. Some couples simply do not want the stress, expense, or attention that often comes with a large traditional wedding, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. In many ways, elopements allow couples to focus on what matters most: the moment itself and the commitment they are making to one another.
Whether your ceremony takes place quietly in a park, at a scenic outdoor location, in your own backyard, or with only a handful of loved ones present, I will help create a warm, relaxed, and personal atmosphere that still feels special and emotionally significant. This package includes a traditional secular ceremony, officiant travel to your location, signing and mailing of your marriage license, and guidance throughout the process so you never feel uncertain about what comes next.
For many couples, an elopement is not about making the moment smaller. It is about making the moment more personal.
The exchange of rings is not necessary, and witnesses are not required for this package.

A quiet elopement, a growing family, and the beginning of forever.
Romance Package
$500.00
The Romance Package is designed for couples who want their ceremony to feel deeply personal, emotionally honest, and unmistakably their own. This is not a generic script pulled from a template or a ceremony rushed through to simply reach the reception. It is a collaborative experience built around your relationship, your personalities, your memories, your sense of humor, your values, and the quiet details that make your connection unlike anyone else’s.
From the very beginning, I take the time to truly get to know you both — not just how you met, but how you love each other. I want to hear about the small things: the late-night conversations, the inside jokes, the difficult seasons you survived together, the moments where you realized this person had quietly become home. Those are the details that transform a ceremony from something people politely watch into something they genuinely feel.
Together, we will create a fully customized secular ceremony that reflects your relationship with warmth, sincerity, emotional depth, and just the right balance of romance, humanity, and celebration. Some couples want something elegant and poetic. Others want something playful, lighthearted, and filled with laughter. Most want a little of both. Whatever voice feels most authentic to you, we will shape the ceremony around it until it feels natural, meaningful, and unmistakably yours.
Beyond writing and officiating the ceremony itself, I also serve as a calm and reassuring presence throughout the process. Wedding days move quickly, emotions run high, and even the most organized couples can suddenly feel overwhelmed once the moment becomes real. I help steady the nerves, guide the pacing, answer questions, coordinate quietly behind the scenes, and make sure the ceremony itself feels grounded, intimate, and emotionally connected from beginning to end.
At its heart, the Romance Package is about storytelling. It is about honoring your relationship with care and reverence while creating a ceremony that feels alive in the moment — one your guests will remember, but more importantly, one that you will remember for the rest of your lives.

A deeply personal ceremony shared in the quiet glow of sunset.
Secular Ceremonies Rooted in Connection
I am ordained through The Church of the Latter Day Dude, a you will notice that my ceremonies are intentionally secular in nature. and while I deeply respect the personal beliefs and traditions of every couple I work with, I do not perform religious ceremonies or include formal religious doctrine, scripture, or prayer within my officiating.
Instead, I focus on creating ceremonies rooted in human connection, emotional honesty, storytelling, symbolism, shared experiences, and the deeply personal bond two people build together over time. Love itself is already profound. My goal is never to preach, but to reflect your relationship back to you in a way that feels authentic, meaningful, intimate, and true to who you are as a couple.
That can still include spirituality, reflection, wonder, nature, family, tradition, or rituals that carry personal meaning for you. I simply approach ceremonies from a place of universal human connection rather than organized religion.
What is Dudeism?
From dudeism.com
"While Dudeism in its official form has been organized as a religion only recently, it has existed down through the ages in one form or another. Probably the earliest form of Dudeism was the original form of Chinese Taoism, before it went all weird with magic tricks and body fluids. The originator of Taoism, Lao Tzu, basically said “smoke ’em if you got ’em” and “mellow out, man” although he said this in ancient Chinese so something may have been lost in the translation.

Down through the ages, this “rebel shrug” has fortified many successful creeds – Buddhism, Christianity, Sufism, John Lennonism and Fo’-Shizzle-my-Nizzlism. The idea is this: Life is short and complicated and nobody knows what to do about it. So don’t do anything about it. Just take it easy, man.
Stop worrying so much whether you’ll make it into the finals. Kick back with some friends and make yourself a White Russian and whether you roll strikes or gutters, do your best to be true to yourself and others – that is to say, abide.
Incidentally, the term 'dude' is commonly agreed to refer to all genders. Most linguists contend that the diminutive “dudette” is not in keeping with the parlance of our times."
